Bitcoin and Ethereum Rebound Ahead of US CPI — BTC Near $83,300, ETH Back Above $2,500 as Traders Brace for Inflation Data

Bitcoin Ethereum price news CPI inflation trading BTC $83,300 ETH $2,500

Bitcoin and Ethereum are trying to recover just hours before the biggest data release of the week. Bitcoin was trading near $83,300, up about 2.3% in 24 hours, while Ethereum led the bounce near $2,510, up about 3.8% after reclaiming its short-term average.

The rebound is still fragile on the weekly chart. Ethereum is down about 7.4% over seven days, more than double Bitcoin's roughly 2.8% weekly fall, so Ether has more ground to win back. Traders say a recovery that survives the inflation release will mean much more than the bounce itself.

All eyes are on US September CPI, due Wednesday, October 14 at 12:30 GMT. Headline inflation is expected at about 3.6% to 3.7% from a year earlier, with core prices seen rising about 0.24% in the month. US producer price data follows on Thursday, so this is a two-day macro test for crypto.

The background is mixed. The US 10-year Treasury yield eased toward about 5.22%, which helps crypto liquidity a little, but the dollar remains near an 18-month high and AI-linked stocks have fallen sharply, keeping confidence cautious. How Treasury yields react to the CPI print may decide the next move.

On the levels, Bitcoin support sits around $83,000 to $83,250, with resistance near $83,700 to $83,900 and then the key $84,000 mark. Ethereum is holding a base around $2,470 to $2,500, and needs to clear about $2,535 to $2,570 before a run at $2,600. A hot CPI could quickly send both back toward their lows, while a soft print could ease yields and extend the rebound.

For traders, the safest plan into the release is smaller position sizes and patience. Wait for prices to hold after the first reaction, watch ETF flows return, and do not chase a fast spike that fades in minutes.
