BingX's European arm has won a full MiCAR licence from Austria's Financial Market Authority, opening the door to regulated crypto trading across 29 countries in the European Economic Area. The approval, announced from Vienna on October 15, was granted to BingX EU, operated by MEGE zweite GmbH, and will work through Europe's passporting system, subject to the remaining arrangements in each country.MiCAR is Europe's single rulebook for crypto markets. Instead of applying for separate permission in every country, an exchange licensed in one member state can offer services across the whole bloc under one framework, as long as it meets common standards on transparency, security and investor protection.
For European traders, the change means BingX services in the region will now sit inside a locally regulated structure rather than an offshore one. The company says the regulated entity will serve both retail and institutional users, and its European chief executive Daniel Lai has presented the licence as a way to give users a trusted, locally regulated trading experience.
The licence also shows where the exchange industry is heading. Big trading platforms are racing to secure formal licences in major markets, because regulated status is becoming the price of access to bank partners, institutions and cautious retail customers. Venues without such approvals risk being pushed to the sidelines as rules tighten.
What traders should watch next is the rollout itself: how quickly passporting is completed, which services launch first in each country, and whether rival exchanges answer with licences of their own. For now, BingX has secured one of the strongest regulatory positions an exchange can hold in Europe, covering almost the entire continent under a single approval.
