BREAKING: Bitcoin Holds Above Buyers' Break-Even at $80,500 as Fidelity Buys $354 Million While ETFs Bleed

Bitcoin price holds above $80,500 break-even as Fidelity buys $354 million BTC

Bitcoin is holding just above the price where the average buyer breaks even, and traders are watching that line very closely. Bitcoin traded around $82,900 to $83,500 in the latest session, while one widely followed on-chain measure put the average holder's cost basis near $80,500. As long as the price stays above that level, the market as a whole is still roughly in profit.

Analysts say this kind of setup has appeared before, in late 2025 and early 2026, when Bitcoin moved sideways around its break-even line for weeks. That indecision pushed some holders to sell and others to buy the dip. This time, the line near $80,500 is acting as support for now, and buyers are defending it.

The most interesting part is who is buying. While US spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have lost more than $1 billion in October, some big Wall Street names kept adding. Fidelity's FBTC fund bought about $354 million worth of Bitcoin over the past 20 trading days, and its other crypto funds also bought Ethereum and Solana. Morgan Stanley added about 92 Bitcoin this week, taking its total to about 10,639 BTC, worth roughly $880 million.

For the next move, traders are watching two levels. A weekly close above about $82,700 would show buyers are in control and could open the way toward $87,000 to $88,000. But a clear fall below $80,500 would break the break-even support and could bring fresh selling pressure.

For traders, the message is simple: big institutions are buying quietly, but retail sentiment is still bearish and ETF flows are still negative. This is a battle between long-term Wall Street money and nervous short-term traders, and the $80,500 and $82,700 levels will decide who wins this week.
