BREAKING: Ethereum FOMO Explodes as Bitcoin and XRP Traders Turn Fearful Ahead of US CPI — ETH Holds $2,500
Ethereum has suddenly become the crowd favourite in crypto, even as Bitcoin and XRP traders turn fearful. Data tracked by Santiment across X, Reddit and Telegram shows about 2.05 bullish comments for every bearish one on Ethereum, a level the firm places firmly in FOMO territory. Ether was holding near $2,500 on Wednesday, just above its $2,450 to $2,500 support zone.
Bitcoin is showing the opposite mood. It recorded only about 0.82 bullish comments for every bearish one, after being rejected near $87,000 more than once and then dipping toward $81,000. Heavy liquidations of long positions and worries about inflation and interest rates have hurt confidence, even though Bitcoin has bounced back to trade near $83,500, with $84,000 now the level bulls need to break.
XRP is also deep in fear, with about 0.92 bullish comments for every bearish one. The coin has fallen more than 9% in a week to around $1.36, leveraged longs have been flushed out, and the $1.40 area has proved hard to win back. Its next important support sits near $1.34 if selling continues after the inflation data.
Traders say Ethereum's optimism comes from its rebound above key support, steady staking demand and hopes for future network upgrades. All three coins now face the same big test today: the US CPI inflation report, expected to show annual inflation rising to about 3.6% from 3.4%. A hotter number could revive fears of another rate hike this year, while a softer number could lift the whole market.
For traders, the split in mood itself is a warning. Santiment's contrarian view is that fear in Bitcoin and XRP can actually be healthier for a recovery than crowded excitement in Ethereum, because prices often move against the crowd. With CPI able to trigger fast moves in either direction, position size and stop levels matter more than chasing the most popular coin.
