Strategy has bought Bitcoin again, but this time the size is the story. The
company said on Monday that it bought 250 BTC during October 5 to 11 for about
$21.5 million, at an average price of around $86,194 per coin.
That small buy takes its total treasury to 848,250 BTC. The full stack cost
about $64 billion, at an average price near $75,444 per coin, and it is now
more than 4% of Bitcoin's fixed 21 million supply — held by one single
company.
Reports note this was Strategy's smallest Bitcoin purchase of 2026, and one of
the smallest in its history. Just a week earlier it bought 334 BTC, so its
buying has clearly slowed compared with its bigger purchases in the past, even
though the direction has not changed.
In the same week, the company spent far more elsewhere: about $192.4 million
to buy back 1.9 million of its STRC preferred shares, roughly nine times what
it spent on Bitcoin. It still holds about $4.88 billion in its USD Reserve
plus around $640 million in cash, about $5.5 billion in total.
The Bitcoin buy was funded mainly by selling about 125,000 MSTR shares for
around $21 million. Bitcoin was trading around $83,000 to $84,000 at the time,
still more than 30% below its October 2025 record high, while MSTR shares
moved slightly higher in pre-market trade.
For traders, the message is mixed but important. A giant holder is still
adding, which supports long-term demand, but smaller buys and a big share
buyback show tighter capital discipline. Watch whether Bitcoin can hold key
support near $82,500 while big buyers move more slowly.
