BREAKING: Starknet Explodes Over 100% in a Week on Quantum-Resistant Layer-1 Plan — Volatile Trading Follows
Starknet (STRK) has become one of the biggest movers in the crypto market this week. The token climbed from about $0.05 to highs above $0.12, a gain of more than 100% in just seven days, before settling near $0.11 on Monday. Daily trading stayed very busy, with 24-hour volume reported around $730 million as traders rushed into the move while Bitcoin held its narrow range near $83,000 to $84,000.
The rally is linked to a big idea from StarkWare. CEO Eli Ben-Sasson has warned that quantum computing could threaten blockchain security sooner than many people expect, with artificial intelligence speeding up progress in that field. On October 8, Starknet said it is actively considering becoming its own Layer-1 blockchain, with the goal of becoming the first fully quantum-resistant network by 2027. Supporters say independence from Ethereum would let the team move faster on security upgrades.
Derivatives data shows how crowded the trade has become. Open interest in STRK futures climbed to about $165 million, and the funding rate turned strongly positive, which means many leveraged traders are betting on more gains. Technical readings were calmer than the price move suggests, with momentum indicators near neutral after the sharp run. That mix is risky: if the price turns down quickly, long positions built on leverage can be wiped out fast.
There are also reasons for caution. STRK has risen roughly 300% in about four weeks, yet the money locked in Starknet apps has grown only a few percent, to around $168 million, and the token still trades more than 97% below its all-time high from February 2024. Volatile trading has already appeared, including a drop of more than 10% within a single hour in one recent session, showing how quickly this rally can reverse.
For traders, the key levels now are support near $0.10 and resistance near $0.125. A clean break above resistance with strong volume would keep the mid-cap rotation story alive, while a fall below $0.10 would suggest the squeeze is fading. Much will also depend on Bitcoin: if the big coins stay calm, traders may keep hunting for momentum in smaller names like STRK, but a sudden Bitcoin move could end the party quickly.
