BREAKING: Tesla Bets Explode on Hyperliquid After Musk's Flying Roadster Demo — Volume Jumps 1,580% in One Hour

Tesla TSLA price news Hyperliquid perpetual jumps 5 percent flying Roadster Musk volume $47 million trading

Crypto traders rushed to bet on Tesla overnight after Elon Musk unveiled a flying version of the Roadster, pushing trading on the Hyperliquid exchange sharply higher while US stock markets were closed. Tesla shares had ended the day at about $362.44, but the Tesla-linked contract on Hyperliquid jumped about 5% to near $378 as the demo spread online.

The numbers show how fast the rush was. Hourly volume in Hyperliquid's Tesla contract leapt from about $2.8 million to about $47 million in a single hour, a jump of roughly 1,580%, making it already the contract's second-busiest day since it launched about a year ago. Over 24 hours, Hyperliquid handled about $159 million in this contract, while Binance was still the biggest venue with about $279 million, and Hyperliquid held the most open interest at about $99 million.
The contract is a perpetual future listed through Trade.xyz. It tracks Tesla's stock price but is not a tokenized share and gives no shareholder rights. It settles in USDC, offers leverage of up to 20 times, needs no brokerage account, and trades around the clock — which is why it became one of the few places to react while Nasdaq was shut.
For traders, the move shows how 24/7 crypto markets are now the first place investors react to big company news. Tesla shares were up about 4.5% in premarket trading after the crypto move, and the company is due to report third-quarter earnings on October 21, which could add more volatility in the coming days.
Traders should still be careful. A leveraged perpetual can reverse just as fast as it rises, and its price is not the same as a completed trade in Tesla's Nasdaq shares. With earnings close, positions built on hype can face sharp swings in both directions.
