Bybit Wins Full Dubai License for Spot Trading — When Does Trading Start?

Bybit full Dubai VARA license spot trading news

Bybit's Dubai arm has won a full spot-trading license from Dubai's crypto regulator VARA — the first license that actually lets the exchange serve customers in Dubai. The new license is already listed as active on VARA's public register for retail, qualified and institutional investors. But trading cannot start yet: Bybit must still complete VARA's launch process and meet its operational requirements, so the launch date is what traders are watching for now.

Key points:

  • Bybit Fintech FZE received a full VASP license from Dubai's VARA for exchange services, including spot trading.
  • The earlier in-principle approval was non-operational — this is the first Dubai license that lets Bybit serve local customers.
  • No launch date yet: Bybit must finish VARA's launch process and meet operational requirements before trading begins.

The announcement completes a long licensing push. Bybit already holds a full Virtual Asset Platform Operator license from the UAE's federal regulator, the SCA, granted in October 2025 — but that license's service restrictions excluded Dubai, which is why the exchange needed a separate VARA license for the emirate.

For traders, the license matters because Dubai is one of the world's biggest crypto hubs. A fully licensed Bybit spot desk there would open a regulated fiat-to-crypto route in the region and put Bybit in the small group of exchanges fully licensed in the emirate. Volumes and onboarding announcements are what to watch once the desk goes live.

What happens next?

Bybit still has to clear VARA's launch process and satisfy its operational requirements before spot trading can start, and the company gave no launch date. A Bybit spokesperson also declined to explain how the new VARA license differs from its earlier SCA approval. Watch Bybit's official announcements for the Dubai launch date, deposit details and trading pairs.
