CME Launches Solana and XRP Options Today — Wall Street Opens a New Trading Door Beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum

Solana XRP price news CME launches futures options trading Wall Street October 13

Wall Street's biggest derivatives market is opening a new door for altcoin traders today. CME Group is launching options on its Solana (SOL) and XRP futures on October 13, the first time its crypto options have gone beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum.
The new contracts will come in standard and micro sizes, with daily, monthly and quarterly expiries. CME is also adding a trading-at-settlement feature for SOL and XRP futures, so traders can deal at the daily settlement price, set at 8:00 a.m. UTC, for more predictable execution.
The launch follows very strong futures trading. Since Solana futures started in March, more than 540,000 contracts worth about $22.3 billion have changed hands. XRP futures, launched in May, have passed 370,000 contracts worth about $16.2 billion, and both markets set record activity in August.

Big trading firms are backing the move. CME's crypto products head Giovanni Vicioso pointed to strong growth and rising liquidity in both futures markets, while firms such as FalconX and Cumberland are expected to support liquidity, as institutions look for better tools to hedge their Solana and XRP exposure.

For traders, this matters because options let them protect a position or bet on a big price move without buying the coin itself. That can bring deeper, more professional trading to SOL and XRP — but options can also sharpen fast moves, so traders will watch the first days of volume and open interest closely, especially with US inflation data due this week.
