Grayscale now lets eligible investors swap their crypto tokens directly for ETF shares across 10 products, with minimums starting at about $80,300 — no need to sell for cash first. Traders are watching whether this easier route pulls more long-term holdings into regulated funds and cuts the cost of moving into Bitcoin, Ethereum and other big coins.
Key points:
- Grayscale has expanded in-kind subscriptions to 10 crypto ETFs and trusts.
- Products cover Bitcoin, Ethereum, Solana, XRP, Avalanche, Chainlink, Dogecoin, Hyperliquid, Sui and Zcash, with minimums from about $80,300 to $364,800.
- Investors can exchange tokens directly for shares, which can reduce self-custody risk and may lower transaction costs.
The list includes the Bitcoin Mini Trust ETF and the Ethereum Staking Mini ETF, plus products tied to Avalanche, Chainlink, Dogecoin, Hyperliquid, Solana, Sui, XRP and Zcash. Instead of selling tokens on an exchange and then buying fund shares with cash, an eligible investor can hand over the tokens themselves and receive shares in return, subject to each product's terms and intermediary rules.

What happens next?
Grayscale says the option can ease the burden of self-custody at a time of growing hacks and DeFi exploits, while giving investors access to normal brokerage and retirement accounts, collateral use and other portfolio tools. Head of Index Steve Vanourny said in-kind investing bridges direct crypto ownership and traditional portfolio management, as digital assets mature and investors look for more secure and efficient ways to manage holdings.
The move builds on a July 2025 decision by the US Securities and Exchange Commission, which approved in-kind creations and redemptions for crypto ETPs for authorized participants. Grayscale is now opening a similar direct route for eligible investors. For traders, the key question is whether smoother token-to-share swaps bring fresh demand into these funds or simply move existing holdings from private wallets into fund accounts without adding new buying pressure.
