JPMorgan Brings $7 Billion-a-Day JPM Coin to Ethereum — What's Next?

Ethereum price news JPMorgan JPM Coin deposit token launches on Ethereum institutional clients trading

JPMorgan, America's biggest bank, has put its dollar deposit token JPM Coin on Ethereum — on a platform that already moves about $7 billion every single day. For traders, real bank deposits are now settling on the same public chain that carries most tokenized funds, and the next question is which big bank follows.

Key points:

• JPMorgan's JPM Coin (JPMD), a token backed by its own US dollar deposits, is now live on Ethereum for institutional clients.

• The token first launched on Base in November 2025 and now supports peer-to-peer transfers across the Ethereum Virtual Machine ecosystem.

• JPMorgan says its Kinexys platform has handled over $4 trillion in total, with average daily volume of about $7 billion.

The bank announced the move on Monday through Kinexys by JPMorgan, its blockchain arm. JPM Coin is not a normal stablecoin anyone can buy — each token represents a real US dollar deposit held at JPMorgan, and only approved institutional clients can hold and use it for onchain payments. The bank said Ethereum's deep onchain liquidity and large pool of tokenized assets made it the natural next public blockchain for the token.

This is the latest step in a steady build-out. JPMorgan launched its first tokenized money-market fund on Ethereum in December 2025 and a second fund in May 2026, after JPM Coin first went live on Base in November 2025. "Tokenized financial infrastructure is no longer theoretical — it's already restructuring liquidity, settlement, and digital asset workflows," said Emma Landriault, global head of Kinexys Labs.

Why does Ethereum win here?

Speed is a big part of the answer. Reports on the launch say JPM Coin lets clients send and receive money in seconds, around the clock, instead of waiting several business days in the old banking system. The bank expects large crypto-sector clients to use it for payments, and other financial firms to use it as digital cash to settle or back trades in tokenized assets. Matthew Dawson of Ethereum Institutional called it a clear signal that institutional finance is moving onto public, verifiable infrastructure.

For the market, this is a slow-burn positive for Ethereum rather than a sudden price spark: ETH traded near $2,433 on Monday, up about 1% in 24 hours, while the real story builds in the background — the biggest US bank choosing public Ethereum rails for deposit money. Traders will watch whether rival banks expand their own deposit tokens onto Ethereum next, and whether JPM Coin volumes grow beyond the bank's existing client base.
