Bitcoin Holds Near $82,500 After a Volatile Week in the Crypto Market

Bitcoin is trading near $82,500 today after a rough and volatile week for the crypto market. Earlier this week, Bitcoin briefly dipped below $81,000. The sudden drop triggered around $1.1 billion in liquidations, and many short-term traders moved their coins to exchanges — about 55,000 BTC was sent to exchanges during the fall, according to market reports. Investor money is also leaving crypto funds right now. Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs have seen heavy outflows in October, getting close to $1 billion, which shows that big investors are being careful at the moment. The market was also shaken by reports of thefts linked to a hardware wallet reseller, with losses reported around $86 million. Investigations into those reports are still ongoing. For now, Bitcoin is holding its ground above $82,000. Traders are watching this level closely — if it holds, the market may calm down; if it breaks, more selling could follow. Bitcoin Braces for Big CPI Week After $681 Million Leaves ETFs — Will Uptober Survive?

Bitcoin is starting a new trading week near $83,000, with Ethereum holding around $2,500, but traders are nervous. After a rough week of selling, all eyes are now on U.S. inflation data that could decide whether the famous "Uptober" rally survives or fails. The ETF numbers explain the worry. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs took in a small $21 million on October 9, and almost all of it went into BlackRock's IBIT fund. But over the full week, about $681 million left Bitcoin ETFs — the biggest weekly outflow in more than three months. That means big investors are still cautious, even if one day of buying returned. Derivatives traders are also turning defensive. Reports say bearish bets against Bitcoin have been rising while spot demand stays weak. Some traders are even watching a possible move toward $60,000 if key support levels break and the macro news turns bad this week. The biggest test comes on Wednesday, when U.S. CPI inflation data is released, with headline inflation expec...

Altcoin Season Over? Big Warning for Ethereum, XRP and Solana Holders

Altcoins have just had a painful week — and one well-known analyst says the party may be over for now. While Bitcoin fell about 2.3% this week to around $82,700, the big altcoins fell much harder. Ethereum dropped about 6.9% to near $2,490, Solana slid about 8.3% to around $110, and XRP lost about 5.3% to roughly $1.40. Analyst Joao Wedson, founder of the analytics platform Alphractal, says the altcoin season that peaked in September has already ended. According to him, the Altcoin Season Index has topped out, and history shows that after such peaks, money usually rotates back into Bitcoin and stablecoins — which helps explain why altcoins are falling faster than Bitcoin. It is not red everywhere, though. A few strong coins refused to fall this week: NEAR Protocol gained about 11.6% and Cardano rose about 5.2%, standing out while most of the market was selling off. So what happens next? Traders are watching whether Ethereum and Solana can start recovering against Bitcoin a...
