Dogecoin Whales Buy 600 Million DOGE — Can $0.081 Hold?

Dogecoin DOGE price news whales buy 600 million DOGE $0.081 support trading rebound

Dogecoin whales have added about 600 million DOGE, worth roughly $48 million, even as the price slipped below the key $0.081 level to near $0.0802. Traders now watch whether that heavy whale buying can defend support, or whether sellers push DOGE toward the next danger zone near $0.0773.

Key points:
• DOGE is down about 7.6% this week to around $0.0802, below the $0.081 support level.
• Large holders added about 600 million DOGE between October 12 and 16, lifting their tracked balances from about 55.6 billion to 56.2 billion DOGE.
• Liquidation clusters sit near $0.0773 below the price and $0.0844 above it, so the next break could move fast.

Analyst Ali Martinez pointed to three signals lining up at the same price. The TD Sequential indicator flashed a daily buy signal near $0.081, which can mark a point where selling starts to tire. Glassnode data also shows about 36 billion DOGE previously changed hands around this price, making it a heavy cost-basis zone, and the price is retesting a long-term monthly support trendline that came before rallies in 2017 and 2020.

Why it matters for traders

The bearish side is still real. DOGE trades below its 50-day and 200-day moving averages, and some analysts warn of a possible death cross if the weakness continues. Dogecoin investment products also recorded about $29.69 million in net outflows in the 24 hours through October 16, while trading volume fell by roughly 46%, leaving a thin market where selling hits the price harder.

What happens next?

If buyers reclaim and hold $0.081, Martinez sees possible profit-taking zones much higher, around $0.16 to $0.17, where billions of DOGE moved before — but that is a scenario with no set timeline, not a promise. If $0.0800 breaks cleanly, the CoinGlass liquidation heatmap points to $0.0773 as the next level in danger, while a move back above $0.0844 would put short sellers under pressure instead.
