• Strategy bought 267 BTC at an average of about $82,900 between October 12 and 18, according to its Monday SEC filing.
• Total holdings reached 848,517 BTC, bought for about $64 billion at an average of about $75,446 per coin.
• The firm also repurchased about 1.94 million STRC preferred shares for about $193.1 million and raised that buyback program to $3 billion.
The purchase was disclosed in a filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission on Monday. Strategy paid for nearly all of it by selling 140,872 shares of its common stock, MSTR, for about $22 million under its at-the-market program, with only about $0.1 million coming from its cash holdings. About $18.79 billion of shares remain available under that program, so the company still has a large funding route for future buys.

Why did Strategy spend more on its own stock?
In the same week, Strategy repurchased about 1.94 million shares of its STRC preferred stock for about $193.1 million and used another $45.5 million from its reserve to pay preferred dividends. Cointelegraph reports the pattern is now clear for the quarter: about $459 million spent on STRC buybacks, compared with about $72 million spent buying 851 Bitcoin. The company says its US dollar reserve stands at $4.83 billion, with another $447.3 million in cash, and its board has raised the buyback authorization from $2 billion to $3 billion.
Executive chairman Michael Saylor had hinted at the buy on Sunday, posting his Bitcoin tracker chart with the words "We found room for more orange." At a ParaFi investor event last week he said Bitcoin is moving back into a bull market, pointing to its recovery above the 200-day moving average. Strategy remains by far the largest public Bitcoin holder among 198 listed companies — the next largest, Metaplanet, holds about 44,000 BTC.

For traders, this buy alone is too small to move Bitcoin — the price action still turns on ETF flows and the wider market, with Bitcoin holding above $82,000 on Monday. The bigger signal is the balance: steady, if smaller, Bitcoin buys on one side, and fast-growing preferred-stock costs on the other. If the STRC spending keeps outpacing the Bitcoin buys, some analysts warn the funding model itself becomes the story to watch.
