TRON settled about $2.2 trillion in stablecoins in just three months — its biggest quarter yet — but the supply of its TRX token has now grown for 108 days in a row. Traders are asking whether record network use can lift TRX when more new coins are being created than burned.
Key points:
- TRON processed about $2.21 trillion in stablecoin settlements in Q3 2026, up 5.1% from Q2, according to TRON DAO Research.
- TRX supply rose for 108 straight days through October 16, adding about 148.6 million net new tokens.
- Fee burns covered only about 63.5% of new issuance in early October, so the supply keeps swelling despite record usage.
The settlement numbers show how big TRON's dollar business has become. Combined balances of USDT and USDD on the network rose 5.5% in the quarter to about $93.9 billion, and TRON says it and Polygon together have now handled $31.9 trillion in stablecoin volume, with a record $828 billion moving in September alone. For many users in Asia and emerging markets, TRON is the main rail for sending dollars.
Why is TRX supply still growing?
The catch sits in how the network pays for itself. Users can cover transaction costs with staked resources instead of burning TRX, so heavy stablecoin traffic does not automatically destroy tokens. At the same time, block production and voting rewards mint fresh TRX every day. In Q3 the network issued about 360.2 million TRX and burned about 234.5 million — a net gain of about 125.8 million tokens.
October has not closed the gap. From October 1 to 16, TRON issued about 62.7 million TRX and burned about 39.8 million, leaving the supply about 22.9 million tokens heavier, TRONSCAN records show. At the current pace, burns would need to rise about 57.5%, or new issuance fall about 36.5%, just to freeze the supply — and TRON DAO has announced no change to those settings.
What happens next?
TRX trades near $0.33, and the two forces pull in opposite directions. Record settlement volume proves real demand for the network, but a supply that grows every day is a slow headwind for the price. Traders will watch whether stablecoin growth stays hot into Q4 and whether burns start closing the gap — if issuance keeps winning, TRX holders keep getting diluted even while the network booms.
